HelperHour doesn't hire cleaners or post job openings. Homeowners find your profile, see your price and contact you directly.
How to find cleaning jobs
- Decide how you want to work. A cleaning company or hotel sets your pay and schedule. Working for yourself, you set your rate and keep the clients.
- Make yourself easy to find. Create a free HelperHour profile with your hourly rate, the areas you cover, your weekly hours and a photo.
- Get requests as they come in. When a homeowner near you asks for a clean, the request lands in your email with their name and contact details.
- Take the jobs that fit. Accept or decline each request. Nothing is booked until you confirm.
Working for a cleaning company vs. working for yourself
At a cleaning company
- The company sets your pay and your schedule.
- The clients belong to the company.
- The company keeps part of what each client pays.
On your own with HelperHour
- You set your hourly rate. New profiles default to $25 an hour with a 2-hour minimum visit, and you can change your rate anytime.
- You choose your days, your hours and how far you travel.
- Clients are yours and pay you directly. HelperHour never takes a cut.
Part-time, weekends or full-time
You decide when you work. Set the days and hours you're open each week, and change them whenever you like. Some cleaners fill a few weekend slots; others build a full week of regular clients.
How to start
- Sign in with your email and add your hourly rate, the areas you cover, your weekly hours and a profile photo.
- Confirm you run your own business and clean every home yourself.
- We review every profile before it goes live. No agencies, franchises or staffing companies.
- Homeowners call, text or send you a request. You decide which jobs to take.
How much to charge for house cleaning
As an independent cleaner, your rate has to cover what an employer would normally pay for: your supplies, your travel time between homes, and your own taxes. So price above what you'd earn as an employee.
- Charge by the hour. Homeowners on HelperHour see your hourly rate and an instant total for the hours they pick, so there's less back-and-forth about the price.
- Quote bigger jobs by the hours they take. A deep clean or move-out clean takes longer than a regular visit, so estimate the hours and the price follows.
- Keep a minimum visit. Every HelperHour visit is at least 2 hours, so a short job is still worth the drive.
- Check your local market. Look at what other cleaners near you list, then change your rate whenever you like.

Common questions
How do I find cleaning jobs?
There are three common routes: apply to a cleaning company or hotel through a job board, ask friends and neighbors for referrals, or work for yourself and let homeowners find you. On HelperHour you create a free profile with your rate, hours and area, and homeowners near you send you cleaning requests directly.
Is there an app to find cleaning jobs?
HelperHour works in your phone's browser, with nothing to install. Sign up with your email, set your rate and the areas you cover, and new cleaning requests from homeowners arrive by email. You choose which ones to accept.
Where can I find house cleaning jobs near me?
Homeowners on HelperHour search by ZIP code and see the independent cleaners whose travel area covers them. Set how far you'll travel, from 5 to 50 miles, and you'll show up in those searches.
Does HelperHour hire cleaners?
No. HelperHour isn't an employer, staffing agency or job board, and it doesn't post job openings. It lists independent cleaners so homeowners can contact them and pay them directly.
